Georgia's Miller twins combine for 44 points

  RECAP | BOX SCORE

HOUSTON -- The shots kept falling for the Miller twins and the rest of the second-ranked Georgia Lady Bulldogs.

Georgia's Coco Miller reaches around, looking for a steal against Houston's Kokeesha Randle, left.

Kelly Miller scored 23 points and sister Coco had 21 as Georgia beat Houston 98-68 Sunday in the Hilton Hobby Airport Classic.

"We played well. We shot well. Houston was playing very well early and I think that they know that," Georgia coach Andy Landers said.

"But we didn't miss many shots. So it was negating a good game that they were having, the fact that we didn't miss shots," he said. "We never gave them a chance to feel the confidence that they should have felt from playing such a good game."

Georgia (9-1) recorded its second straight victory since losing 80-74 to No. 23 LSU on Dec. 2. Coco Miller made her contribution despite sitting out six minutes of the first half because of foul trouble.

Houston (1-5) is still struggling with team chemistry after the influx of seven new players this season, including five junior-college transfers.

Houston led 16-15 at 13:32 of the first half. But Shala Crawford then scored four points during a 10-0 run as Georgia took the lead for good.

Georgia shot 59 percent from the field in the first half and 57 percent for the game.

Ahead 49-33 at halftime, the Lady Bulldogs went on a 17-7 run over the first five minutes of the second half and were up 87-55 when Landers began emptying his bench.

Houston got 14 points each from Cathy Lida and ShaRonda Lasseter while shooting 38 percent.

The Lady Cougars turned the ball over 27 times and were outrebounded 43-24.
