UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) _ Kevin Weekes made 28 saves as the New York Islanders snapped a six-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.

The shutout was Weekes' second this season _ and second of his career _ as the Islanders won for just the second time in their last 14 games.

Gino Odjick and Jorgen Jonsson scored for the Islanders, who won at home for the first time since beating Boston 3-0 on Dec. 27.

The loss was the fourth straight for the Lightning, who are 1-14-2-2 in their last 19. Their last win was Jan. 13, a 4-2 victory against the Islanders. Tampa Bay also is winless on the road in its last 14, dating to a 4-2 victory in Anaheim on Dec. 1.

Kevin Hodson, who started in goal for the Lightning, stopped 14 shots before Rich Parent replaced him with 3:24 left.

Odjick gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead 7:48 into the game when he pushed Claude Lapointe's pass from behind the net past Hodson. It was New York's first goal in 144 minutes, 42 seconds.

The Islanders scored on the power play for just the second time in 44 opportunities when Jonsson beat Hodson from the left circle with a short-side wrist shot at 17:45 of the second.
